It’s been almost one year since I started weight training and I wanted to take the time out to write a post about the changes I’ve seen this year. It’s been a long road and I’m pretty happy with my progress.
As I’ve said previously, I was never really concerned about my weight. I was extremely thin for a very long time. During my time at Kent, I gained a lot of weight and it occurred to me that I should do something about it. After graduation I figured I had enough time on my hands to get back into shape and I’d say that I’ve done fairly well.
In the beginning, I was going to the gym around 3 times a week. As the months went on I got more and more busy so it became less and less regular. I think due to the fact that my metabolism has picked up again, it hasn’t really affected me too much. I’m now trying to get back into the swing of things.
I do have a favorite exercise now. I’m a huge fan of squats. Being able to squat more than your own body weight is kind of cool. My bench pressing skills aren’t as impressive though. When I first started all of this I was barely able to lift a 15 lb dumbbells for curls, but now I’m about 25lbs for each arm.
I probably wouldn’t be the best role model for someone really trying to lose weight. I really don’t have much of a schedule and although I don’t eat junk food and rarely eat fast food, I’m not the healthiest of eaters. But this was my journey and I enjoyed it.
Clothing-wise, I went from wearing size 16 pants to size 6 and from a size 12 dress to a size 6. I can also fit Small shirts now. Well, I guess it’s time for the photos. The first one is the one I’m most embarrassed about, but I really needed to post it for comparison.
