The Rail, located on the westside of Akron in the Fairlawn area (connected to Summit Mall), has quickly become one of my favorite spots to grab a burger. I don’t normally eat beef, but when I’m craving a burger this is the place I go to. Its delicious, house-made veggie burger are nothing to sneeze at either. The is a place that takes pride in Ohio and gets a large majority of their items from the local area.
Taken from their website, The Rail says, “From the butcher’s rail to our grill to your plate, The Rail burgers are as honest and fresh as the cows you pass grazing Ohio’s farm country…just a little less active..” And they are true to their word. You can taste the freshness in their beef.
I got the 7th Heaven burger cooked medium. It was loaded with truffle butter, thick-cut bacon, red onion jam, and I added grilled mushrooms. It was thick, juicy, and mouth-gasmic. The flavors blended together well. There was a hint of sweetness from the red onion jam, and rich, earthy, nutty flavor from the truffle butter. The bacon was cooked perfectly to my tastes. I don’t like it burnt but I don’t like it undercooked. This bacon had a slight bit of a chew to it which I found was exactly what I wanted.
My incredibly handsome companion, Quill of Scribes (shown above), got the Bon Fire burger cooked medium-well. His was topped with jalapeno peppers, pepper-jack cheese, and Sriracha Chili Sauce. He said that it was really good and tasted fresh.
We both got the skinny fries with our meal which I think taste divine. They’re skinny, fresh, and salty.
The restaurant is very modern and colorful. I am a huge fan of their lights. I would love to buy a condo and outfit the majority of it with those lights. Their booths are comfy and they also have this long bar in the center where large groups can sit to eat. The music they play is very current. Quill and I sang along between mouthfuls of food.
Overall, I always have a great time when I come here. The staff is great and the food is mouthwatering. I can’t wait to go back. It might even be this weekend.
