Shop Review: The Pittsburgh Popcorn Company

IMG_9042

Last week, I took a trip to Pittsburgh, PA. I have a full blog post coming on that, but first I wanted to focus on one of the local shops I visited while there. The shop was called The Pittsburgh Popcorn Company. I was checking out the Strip when this place caught my eye. They were also giving out free samples so I couldn’t help but give it a try. The sales associate told me that there were five locations in total and the one that I had visited was the original one.

As soon as I stepped into the shop I fell in love with the interior. The big lit up ‘Pop’ sign immediately caught my attention. I would say that I would love to have it in my apartment, but I would have nowhere to put it. It’s small and has a vintage movie theater feel about it. I wouldn’t be surprised if the ceiling was original. The design reminds me of a bygone era.

They have a wide range of popcorn flavors that were listed on the chalkboard. There aren’t as many as Metropolis Popcorn, but the prices were about the same. I got a small bag of the Vanilla Almond and let me tell you, it reminded me of the butter almond cookies that I buy and gobble up in the same day. It’s really good and fresh. The almonds balance well with the light hint of vanilla and what I think was caramel coating the popcorn. Sadly, I should’ve gotten a couple more flavors to try, but as they say, hindsight is 20/20.

I’m a huge fan of the design of the logo. For some reason I find it really cool looking. Anyway, I would suggest that if you live in the Pittsburgh area or are dropping by, you should give this place a try. I mean, who doesn’t love popcorn?

  1. Great popcorn – I always get some to take home to Mom and Dad during the school holidays! They have a chocolate/peanut butter (Reese’s-esque) flavor that’s pretty ridiculous 😀
