To continue my “Tea of the Week” segment, I wanted to introduce to you the Strawberry Rose Champagne tea from Teavana. This is an oolong tea and if you know anything about teas then you know that it is from the same plant as black tea, but only partially fermented.
Oolong tea is used to sharpen thinking skills and improve mental alertness. It is also said to help prevent cancer, tooth decay, osteoporosis, and heart disease.
Smell: The smell reminds me of Welch’s Sparkling Grape Juice. It’s very light, fresh, and clean with a hint of rose waffling from it. I literally smell spring time and the scent of flowers being kicked up in the air after running through a meadow.
Taste: It tastes a bit different from what I initially expected. It’s light, flowery with a hint of fruitiness (I know it’s not a real word but it served my purposes) in it. There is a bit of an aftertaste but it’s not horrible. As I was drinking this tea I was also eating a Kale & Potato soup and those flavors mingling was delightful. Flowery and savory goes surprisingly well together.
Feel: This tea makes me feel like I’m sitting at a table surrounded by a garden in mid-1800s London wearing a Victorian style dress with white gloves, boots, and reading. Of course, during that time in London, life wouldn’t have been nearly as pleasant for me, but that is not a topic for this blog post.
