Friday, March 27th, was the opening reception for Nine Muses Art Gallery’s “A Week of Wonderful Women’s Works” show in celebration of Women’s History Month. If you follow the blog’s Facebook page, then you know that I had a few pieces in this show.
All of the pieces had to incorporate women’s history. Whether that be personal, local, national, or even global. My two pieces are a part of a large set dealing with the history of black women. One focuses on the present and the other focuses on Victorian times.
I had a very interesting conversation with a gentleman about my style. He commented that it reminded him of comic books. As a collector of them, I was really excited that someone noticed. It’s taken me a long time, but I’m finally starting to find my voice when it comes to my art.
The show will be up through April 2nd at the Nine Muses Art Gallery in downtown Barberton. If you do happen to check it out, let me know! I’d love to hear what you thought.
