Akron Food Truck Friday

The Friday before the 4th of July, I attended an event called Akron Food Truck Friday. I learned about this event through friends and knew that I had to feature it on my blog.

Akron Food Truck Friday is hosted by Child Guidance & Family Solutions. This company “was established in 1939 by The Junior League of Akron, as ‘Child Guidance Center’ and for the purpose of relieving the suffering of children who faced mental, emotional and behavioral health challenges.” They also work “with primary care physicians and schools to provide effective and coordinated mental healthcare throughout the area.” (Source)

A portion of the sales raised by each food truck are donated to CG&FS. I really enjoy helping out the community when I can and when delicious food is involved, it’s like a perfect match.

Anyway, the day I went, I tried out the Boca Loca Burrito Truck and got The Dirty Puerco. It’s a flavorful creation with slow-cooked pulled pork, fried potatoes, cole slaw, and sweet chipotle BBQ sauce. It was so good. My mouth was definitely dancing with joy. Their chips are really good too.

I also grabbed a Strawberry Rhubarb popsicle from Popsmith. All of Popsmith’s popsicles are made from fresh fruit. I hear that they’re going to continue to be at the event through the rest of the summer and I am excited. I think those popsicles were super-pops. Mine stayed cold for a ridiculously long time so I was able to savor every bite and not rush it.

You can find out which food trucks are going to be there each Friday by visiting their Facebook page. This event will run every Friday through September 12th from 11am-1:30pm. I suggest you do yourself a favor and support a good company while eating yummy food.
