Fragile Existence

*This blog post is dedicated to my friend that lost her father and my younger family member who was shot over this past weekend.*

Over the weekend I’d been accosted with the fact that as humans, we live such short, fragile lives. It’s quite disturbing to think about it. One bad fall could be our last moment. Our skin is the only thing that separates our internal organs from facing the outside world and even with that intact death could still seize us.

We can’t regrow our appendages like lizards, we don’t have shells to protect us, our bodies aren’t immune to things like venom and a whole host of other natural toxins. Our big brains are the only things that separate us and our imminent demise, yet even then The Time Overlord will eventually have its say.

At this moment most people would say that those are the reason why we have to be careful, but I’m not like most people. I believe that those are the reasons why we should live life to the fullest. We should have goals we want to achieve, take love by the horns and ride it, and don’t let anything stand in the way of our happiness.

Fear of death and failure are the two biggest things that hold us back from greatness. Don’t let those things make you hide out while the awesomeness of life passes you by. And don’t worry, we all have those moments when we feel like it’s better to take the safe route, even me.

I was recently in a situation that made me want to hibernate in my mental and emotional cave, but the last few days made me realized that, that was not going to get me where I wanted to be. So I put on my big girl pants and asked the universe what I needed to do. And you know what! I immediately knew. So, it’s okay to be a little apprehensive at first but don’t let that get in your way.

Let your family, friends, random people know that they are important, that they are loved even if they don’t feel it at that moment. Let the world know that you are of value to it and don’t let anyone tell you differently.

Until next time loves,
